Experience

Program Manager, CDW
October 2015 – present

As a program manager for CDW, I am responsible for the production of two tech magazines, EdTech: Focus on K-12 and EdTech: Focus on Higher Education.  I also strategize, develop and execute content for a variety of print and digital campaigns that support customer awareness in five segments, ranging from State and Local government to education and retail. In this position I work closely with creative agencies to produce and deploy e-newsletters across these segments and develop white papers, trend articles and catalog editorial content for small business and retail lines.

Managing Editor, Trend Publishing
October 2013 – October 2015

As managing editor, I am responsible for the editorial calendars of both Modern Metals and FF Journal, two B2B publications with a combined circulation of close to 70,000 published a combined 21 times a year, and an annual directory of metals industry businesses. This often involves multi-tasking, thinking quickly on one’s feet and switching gears at a moment’s notice. I collaborate with two executive editors and three full-time writers, along with Production and Sales departments for each book, each featuring market analysis, case studies and company profiles. We also provide and manage fresh content for two websites.

Managing Editor and Web Editor, Make It Better Media
November 2009 – October 2013

At Make It Better, I managed the editorial process and publication of a monthly lifestyle magazine with a circulation of 55,000. This role entailed collaborating with full-and part-time staff, as well as a network of regular freelancers. In my web role, I utilized a customized Joomla platform daily to maintain a website that averages close to 25,000 page views a week. This includes but is not limited to posting articles, additions to the business directory, and event calendar listings. The position required developing newsletter and magazine content, networking website content to social media outlets, and producing a bi-weekly email newsletter to 19,000 subscribers using CampaignMonitor.

Freelance writer, Gannett News June 2002 – July 2009
Developed daily content for its “Source” section, wrote articles for supplements to the Lansing State Journal (Lansing, Michigan) and also contributed to Greater Lansing Woman and GreatLakesEscapes.com.

Corporate Communications Administrator, Delta Dental Plan of Michigan November 1992 – May 2002
Primarily responsible for all employee communications and professional (dental community) communications. This includes but is not limited to: weekly employee newsletters and the development of a company intranet, for which I was primarily responsible for all content; and quarterly newsletters for the dental profession in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. Also served as the web content administrator, primarily responsible for all web content on the Delta Dental Plan of Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio websites. This included working closely with all facets of the company, from Administration to Marketing to Professional (dentist) Relations. This position entailed working closely with nearly all aspects of the organization to ensure the efficient delivery of easy-to-understand communications from the top down and across all levels of the company.

Education

Michigan State University September 1987 – June 1991
Received a B.A. in Journalism, with concentrations in History and French.

Skills

Having worked within a part-time office, part-time home environment, I’ve developed excellent multi-tasking and time management skills. I take initiative, work hard to consider different perspectives when writing, am meticulous as a proofreader, never miss a deadline, and am eager to pitch in when help is needed.
